Probably the most popular viewing place in the Grand Canyon and worth it, views are wonderful, maybe a little crowded sometimes to get your pic, but worth a wait Full review by PeterB11369

Went here for a few hours. Stunning scenery in The Grand Canyon. Went here before going on a helicopter ride over The Grand Canyon. Full review by Pollok1

For me, this is the most memorable stop at South Rim. I liked how many colors the hills have. Accessible by frequent shuttle buses. Full review by Jana K

$20 fee per person to walk in, bus in, bike in, boat in. $35 per car to drive in. Parking is free. Plenty of parking. There are free days, see their site.
We will be in Las Vegas for an Archery Tournament next month. We wanted to take a ride and see the Grand Canyon. We were looking for something a little closer than the South Rim area/Park Headquarters, a 4 hour drive in a packed car is not fun for any of us. We wanted to get a little closer, perhaps the West Rim, but did not want to go to the Skywalk. Is there any place that is worth seeing, or should we just bite the bullet and drive to the South Rim? Any assistance/guidance is greatly appreciated. Thank You

Suzi, that all depends on what you want out of your experience. My parents would drive by the sign to say they had been to a place but never truly experienced it, and there are a small handful of vistas to help you see the breadth of the Grand Canyon to do just that. I would recommend that you leave early in the day and visit as many areas as you can and take in each of the pulloffs on the way since you live in Florida and may not experience it again. fyi the Skywalk is rather pricy, and there are short and long trails to hike on, so come prepared to your liking. There are several attractions with visitor centers and dining as well. I came from the North and. around from the East side so there may be other options from the Vegas Side. Do bring plenty of water and batteries for your camera as well. hope this helps.
My family and have never been to the Grand Canyon and have to drive through this area because we're relocating for work but wanted to make a day stop. Any recommendations where we can go to see the Grand Canyon and take pictures and such without having to buy a tour?

Desert view Tower is worth seeing and easy to get to. Good for a short visit. The Mather Point area is a great place to spend an entire day.. In addition to the canyon views, the visitor center museum is very good as is the Village. There are reasonable priced restaurants and a supermarket. Very family friendly and reasonable if you are on a tight budget. You can get groceries and pick-nick. I went for two days and never paid for a tour. At one point there was a ranger giving a history talk, but it wasn't a paid for tour. I listened and got to ask questions. He had some great rescue stories. People do fall in. Watch the kids. Many places don't have railings, it is a mile deep. Don't get too close to the larger wild animals.
please suggest a nice company for a day tour from las vegas

Hello Vimmy, The drive from Las Vegas to the Canyon will be 4 to 5 hours depending on whether you would like to stop and take in some of the other sites along the way, if so this will be at least a two day excursion ( my recommendation). I would suggest leasing a suburban, packing up with snacks and drinks and enjoying the experience. I feel that you would short change yourself trying to make it all in one day. Enjoy your visit to the US. There are several sites to enjoy along the way, that way it breaks up the 5 hour road trip and makes it a discovery tour. You have the Hoover Dam which is breath taking in itself, Lake Mead which is near Boulder City, not far out of Vegas , then, on to the Grand Canyon. I would recommend a full day of exploring the Grand Canyon, to get the full effect of the magnitude and majesty that is a marvel here on earth, walk the Rim Trail and hike down into the Canyon if time permits and you have proper attire shoes and physically prepared. I would recommend making reservations in Flagstaff, AZ which is about an hours drive and ample selection of hotels to relax and recover. Happy travels and hiking!
