The Roxy 5 was opened in 2012. Following the corporate closing of Peru's previous chain-owned theater, community leaders came together to found the Roxy 5. Awarded the Golden Shovel by the current mayor, Jim R. Walker, The Roxy Theater stood as a shining light among local business in tough economic times.
