Lakeport Plantation is an Arkansas State University Heritage Site near Lake Village and Greenville, MS. The house was constructed ca. 1859 for Lycurgus and Lydia Johnson. It is the only remaining Arkansas antebellum plantation home on the Mississippi River. ASU began restoration of the house in 2003 and the house opened to the public in September 2007. Guided tours are given on the hour Mon-Sat 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. with self-guided tours any time from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

You won’t find a completely restored, fully furnished antebellum mansion here, but that is what makes it interesting. There were only three families who lived here before it was donated and restored… Full review by Robin B

This is a great way to learn history of Arkansas and the south. Our guide was friendly and very knowledgeable. The house and outbuildings are being restored. The museum is very interesting. Full review by SherriM452
