We are a Native Hawaiian family-owned, 40-year-old company committed to the quality of your experience in our marine sanctuary. South Maui and the Wailea-Makena area are prized for their beautiful beaches, calm and clear emerald-blue waters, and near-perfect weather year-round. We gratefully acknowledge our place as caretakers and interpreters of this South Maui paradise we call home. The Kai Kanani II is the only commercial boat that lives in South Maui, moored off of Maluaka Beach in Makena. Every day, she takes passengers on the short cruise out to Molokini Crater, just 3 miles away, to snorkel and play in the clearest water in all of Hawaii. And five nights-a-week, Kai Kanani II sails afternoon trade winds on our Adventure Sunset Sail.

Hi there, I'm taking a trip to Hawaii in September and have heard so many great things about the Kai Molokini snorkel tour. As a fat person though, I do have some concerns, mostly about the width of the stairs and getting back aboard the boat once in the water. I did reach out to the Kai Kanani staff and they were extremely helpful, but were unable to provide the width of the stairs. I'm mostly curious to hear from fellow fat people, if any, who have taken the tour and their experience with getting back on the boat whilst in the water. Thanks in advance!

I was not on the snorkeling tour so, I do not know anything about snorkeling. I was on the Sunset cruise. The catamaran was very hard to get on with the stairs, the waves not calm, and being in water up to my chest. The stairs were very difficult getting on and off the catamaran,
Q:
Is the food tree nut free?
A:
Aloha! All of our food is tree nut free except two items on our Adventure Sunset Sail: the pesto on the caprese (macadamia nuts) and the toasted-coconut brownies for dessert.

Q:
Is it cold being in the water that early in the morning?
A:
I used a 2mm rash guard and shorts. I was comfortable. Most of the other people went in with just their bathing suits.
Q:
How many passengers does the Kai Kanani hold?
A:
Don’t know how many it technically holds or what their max number for a trip is but we had about 30 people on the boat when we went out. There was plenty of room to sit and …
