ToplineSome northern states may have an opportunity to view the northern lights Monday night, according to a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration forecast, before the aurora’s projected view line recedes north into Canada later in the week.

Per the NOAA, the northern lights may be visible throughout most of Alaska, as well as northern parts of Montana, North Dakota, and Minnesota. Other states that have a great chance of viewing the lights are Washington, Idaho, Wisconsin, and Michigan.

The results of a massive solar flare from earlier this week could create more amazing light shows for people in the northern parts of the US.

Geomagnetic storm conditions are expected on Saturday night, likely pulling the northern lights further south below the Canadian border, according to a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration forecast. (Here’s an updated forecast for Sunday night.)
