For example, if there were no springs, the door would slam back down shut when released. OP's condition is a subset of no springs. Once the opener stops, the motor releases its pull on the door. The door then starts sliding down again.

May 13, 2011 · Look for any irregularities on the floor and on the bottom of the garage door. You might find something stuck to the bottom garage door seal. Another possible cause is that the door got out of adjustment. Most door I have seen have four adjustments; 1) Open force; 2) close force; 3) open travel distance; and 4) close travel distance.

Dec 28, 2022 · It's an Overhead Door opener and it's only about 5 years old. It's belt driven and the tension on the belt is the same as on my other door. I've visually inspected the door itself, the rails, the belt, and the belt guide, and everything appears normal. I lubed the door itself and the rollers about 2 years ago.

Roughly a couple of months ago, one of my parents' garage door openers started having problems. The problem was that the garage door seemed to open, but not close when using the remote(it worked fine with the wall button).

May 9, 2023 · When I click the button, my garage door always OPENS fine. However, if I want to close it, hitting the button does not work. I have to manually shove it open an extra inch (ie, push the garage door in another inch), then, while holding the door open, I click the button, and it closes fine.
