Hi I use desgin ideas for my presentations. I need to use official colour palette keeping in line with my organisation's brand guidelines. However, I am unable to change the colours in the designs.

If that's the case you do not have any of the options that Vince has mentioned. There's no fast way to change all text in PowerPoint for the web. If you can download the file and open it in a desktop version of PowerPoint, then you can edit the slide master to change the default placeholder text color.

I'm looking for a way to change the background color in slides suggested by the Design Ideas. For example, it often gives me brown or black backgrounds on layouts I like. I when I try to change the background color, it allows me to change in the the text box, but not all areas of the slide.

I applied to both top level slide master and layouts beneath. I tried removing and reapplying slide numbers, but no joy. Size, Font, placeholder location, all okay. Not color. I see change on Side Masters, but not on slides. I am using the Contemporary Photo Album installed template with no changes, and changing slide numbers from white to black.
