I skip gears a lot. On level surfaces I use 1,2,4,6 a lot. I used to worry about accidentally going into reverse especially in this gear pattern going 4 to 6.

Apr 28, 2017 · I traded a 5-speed Miata on my 6-speed JK in March. Still getting used to shifting this one. I find reverse particularly challenging, and also find 6th gear a bit difficult to find. Definitely different from a sports car.

Apr 29, 2022 · 4 prior manual jeeps so not a novice, the 2013 JKUR took a lot of relearning with the 6 speed getting into 6, it is now just a finesse easy move with slight pressure to the right on the shift knob. Takes getting used to for sure.

Apr 26, 2014 · The JK manual 6 spd. is the same trans. since 07. When you shift, shift it. Don't go easy with it. For reverse, push it all the way to the right and down with some authority. If you try to ease it in like pretty much any other domestic or foreign manual it won't work as well. For lack of a better term, don't limp wrist it.
