Apr 8, 2010 · Fujitsu offers IPS panels that can do 1,000:+, however they use the harsh AG coating and are only avaliable in Europe/Asia. A few of the recent LG IPS panels (IPS226V) can also do 1,000:1, pretty sure they're only avaliable in Europe/Asia as well. The Dell U2311H is currently the only IPS panel with a decent black level in N/A.

Aug 20, 2006 · I purchased an NEC P232W(which is an IPS panel with W-LED backlight) last week to replace a U2413 I returned to Dell. I find the contrast and black levels to be quite solid for my needs. After calibration I get a black point of .092 and contrast ratio of 1075:1 at 100 cd/m which is the brightness I do most of my work at.

May 8, 2020 · I had 3 IPS monitors, which are returned to a shop due to the same eye strain. They were perfectly calibrated with ideal color temperature and NO PWM. Been to optometrist and my eyes are perfect. Before IPS monitors, I had low quality TN panel with a strong blue tint on my older laptop, I was able to sit in front of it 24/7 without any discomfort.

In terms of panel characteristics the "pluses" for them relative to each other are - AUO (although AUO has a few variants now) - Contrast Response Innolux (the newer revision of this panel can do 10 bit at 144hz as opposed to only 120hz) -

Oct 2, 2010 · That makes zero logical sense. Every panel manufacture that is out there has the option and has always had the option to make any panel type. IPS has always been the most expensive. If VA was "better" in all aspects and cheaper (which it is), then there would be every incentive for monitor manufacturers to use that technology.

Apr 3, 2014 · PSA: On a transmissive-by-default panel like IPS or PVA, a bright pixel is a dead pixel. "Common knowledge" about stuck and dead pixels should be inverted when not discussing TN. If your pixel is bright at any time when it's supposed to be dark, Dell should replace it.

Sep 29, 2021 · Panel from AUO I had on Acer XB271HK was objectively speaking the worst IPS panel when it comes to viewing angles that I have ever used. It seemed ok-ish up to some angle at which it showed very bright light that kinda looked like glare in that it seemed to be reflected glare from my behind.

However, how does modern VA panel compare with old IPS panel? Can modern VA match the color and viewing angle of old IPS panel like the one in U3011?
