Jan 15, 2024 · Due to its strength, the LVL beam can span up to 60 feet and is much stronger than conventional lumber. Generally, you can find laminated beams in 4-foot increments starting at 24 feet and going up to 44 feet long, with special orders up to 60 feet.
Glued laminated beams (glulams) are used in a wide range of applications in both commercial and residential construction. The tables in this publication provide recom mended preliminary design loads for two of the most common glulam beam applications: roofs and floors.
This is the national consensus standard recognized by all model code agencies for the manufacture and trademarking of glulam. The tables included in this publication include val‐ ues for section properties and capacities and allowable loads for simple span and cantilevered beams.
