Now that I think about it, this episode was ahead of its time; despite being early Season 1, it feels a lot like an episode that would come at a later era. It's a highlight of Season 1, to be sure. 9/10

So, if you take that as subbing out "platypus" for its definition, it doesn't necessarily mean that Perry himself can lay eggs, just that it's a defining aspect of the defining species of the character.
