I have registered the "MSCOMCTL.OCX" file with sysWow64/Regsvr32.exe. But when I reload the project it still cant find the reference. I've also registered the .ocx with System32.

Apr 22, 2021 · VB6 runs fine on Windows 10 (64-bit Pro) here without any special installation wizard. There are one or two 'tricks' to allow it to install and instructions for those are here. I assume the wizard you are talking about applied those automatically. –

Dec 7, 2009 · When I go to the MS web page describing the latest VB Runtime Files list it directs me to what looks like the right download for VBRun60sp6.exe but when I actually download it it's VB6.0-KB290887-X86.exe which is just the OleAut32.dll update for VB6.

When I run installation by dblckick as admin it reports that cannot find file specified, even if I set compatibily with XP SP3 or XP SP2.
